Quels ont été les effets de la domination mongole en Iran ? Ce livre se concentre sur Chiraz et la province de Fars pour fournir une histoire politique, sociale et économique détaillée de la domination ilkhanide depuis les premières invasions mongoles en 1220 jusqu’à la fin de la dynastie Injuide en 1357. S’appuyant sur une vaste collection de sources, Denise Aigle combine des approches locales et globales pour intégrer l’histoire de la province dans l’ensemble du système administratif. La thèse centrale est que la domination mongole a provoqué une rupture dans les schémas administratifs traditionnels. Un double système administratif a été mis en place, composé de personnel mongol et persan local, dirigé depuis la cour. En retraçant la fortune de chaque souverain successif, ses recherches montrent que les échecs de chaque souverain, ainsi que les intrigues des notables persans, ont été les principales raisons du déclin économique de Chiraz et du Fars sous les Mongols, par rapport à la province voisine de Kirman, plus prospère. L’Iran sous les Mongols est une contribution essentielle à notre compréhension des effets de la domination mongole en Iran.
