Early and Medieval Islam (622-1600CE)

The History Department at the University of Tennessee invites
applications for a tenure track assistant professorship in the History
of Early and medieval Islam (622-1600 CE). Research specialties in any
topic, with a focus on the Mediterranean world or the Arab Middle East,
will be considered. The appointment will begin fall semester 2013. Ph.D.
required at the time of appointment. Teaching duties include a survey in
World History and upper division undergraduate and graduate courses in
the candidate’s area of specialty. The Knoxville campus of the
University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to
contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals
of the University. Please send a letter of application addressing
research and teaching interests and experience, curriculum vitae, three
letters of recommendation, and an article length writing sample to:
