Dear junior researchers,
The Ernst Herzfeld-Society is very pleased to invite you to the Graduate Students Meeting, which will be held on Thursday July 5th, 2018 at the University of Strasbourg. Same as last year, the meeting will take place on the day before the 14th Colloquium of the Ernst Herzfeld-Society and offers the possibility to participate in both events. The Colloquium is scheduled on Thursday/Friday 5th/6th and Saturday 7th July, 2018. For further details, please see the attached invitation by the president of the Society, Markus Ritter, and the vice-president Francine Giese.
The Graduate Students Meeting offers junior researchers (Bachelor, Master and PhD students) in the field of History of Islamic Art, Islamic Archaeology and Architecture the opportunity to present their ongoing research while providing a platform for open discussion and idea exchange.
If you are interested to present your current research project or to share your thoughts on this question you are invited to submit an abstract with the title of your Power Point presentation (max. 1 page) until March 1st, 2018. Topics on any period – from early Islamic time to the modern and the contemporary – are welcome. This year only Power Point presentations will be held in order to reserve more time for the discussion. Along with the abstract you are kindly requested to provide the following information: your Name, your University/ Institution affiliation, your Field of Specialisation, and your Graduate School and/ or Research Project, if applicable.
German and English are the primary presentation languages. Presentations may also be held in French when necessary.
The conference fee of 50 Euro (25 Euro for students) is waived for members of the Society. If you are not a member and you would like to join the Society you can register online at the website (www.ernst-herzfeld-gesellschaft.de).
I am very much looking forward to meeting you in Strasbourg. For registration, questions, and inquiries about the meeting on Thursday afternoon, please contact me at the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org
Feel free to circulate this message among your colleagues and other interested fellow students.
With my best wishes,
